Four of icenet’s staff took part in the World’s biggest half Marathon on Sunday 30 September 2007 along with 50,000 other runners. Although not quite as speedy as Paula Radcliffe, the quickest member of icenet completed the 13.1 miles of the Great North Run in a very respectable 1 hour and 45 minutes, but more importantly they collectively raised a fantastic £2500 for local Harrogate charity Saint Michael’s Hospice.
Saint Michael’s Hospice began in 1986 as a local drop in centre and telephone help-line to provide information for cancer sufferers. The hospice now provides a ten bed in-patient unit and a day care centre. Lucy Gill, Fundraiser at Saint Michael’s Hospice commented “The hospice needs £1.5 million each year to continue providing the quality of care that is so essential for our patients, as well as support for their families. Without the generous support from the community and businesses such as icenet, the hospice would not exist.”

Leena Kinnunen, Rob Carrington, Sara Evans and Steve James, icenet.
Leena Kinnunen, Office Administrator, icenet commented “Running the Great North Run was a fantastic challenge and a huge personal achievement, but more importantly we were all motivated knowing that we were raising money for such a deserving local charity. I would like to thank all of our icenet customers and partners, friends and family for their amazing support. Roll on GNR 2008!”
