icenet supports local school | July 2006 Year 10, Harrogate Grammar students Henry Stephen and Brian Barral joined ICE to gain a first hand insight into the world of work, enhance their own personal and social development and increase career awareness, before commencing their long awaited summer holiday. Alex Stephen, Chief Executive at ICE commented “The company was eager to support a local school with work experience placements, but more importantly we wanted to be able to provide a wide range of activities and to be able to give them a insight into our industry and working in the real world. I am delighted to say that they seem to have gained a tremendous amount from the experience, so much so that they are both on track to receive a gold award for the task”. “It was the best choice of placement we could have hoped for; we were given our own work space, computer and telephone whilst working at ICE and treated like adults. We were asked to do challenging tasks such as learning new software, compiling customer care reports and attending customer presentations, rather than remedial jobs like making tea and re-filling paper trays!” commented Brian Barral.print page < back to news | next news item > |
